Instead of standing on soft earth which conforms to the natural shape and curve of our feet, we now walk on surfaces, like concrete floors and asphalt roads, which force our feet to flatten and twist.

The doctor decided he needed a special insole that he could put inside his patients shoes to custom-fit their shoes to the shape of their feet. By supporting the foot in its natural shape, just like a footprint in the sand, he would be able to fix his patients leg and foot problems.
